Sales up! Claims down!

Development of a 7-module micro-learning series that modernised Sika’s previous Risk Management training into a shorter, clearer, and more user-friendly learning experience.

The Challenge

Redesign of Sika’s long-standing Risk Management training into a modern, accessible micro-learning experience. The former single SCORM module was lengthy, not possible to update, and offered limited navigation flexibility.

Target Audience

All employees worldwide, including non-specialists, requiring a clear and accessible understanding of Risk Management principles and decision-making responsibilities.

The Solution

A 7-module micro-learning architecture combining:

  • Short theory modules (2) to establish foundations

  • Scenario-based case studies (5) to practice decision-making

  • Video-driven storytelling to anchor learning in real situations

Tools Used

RiseUp (LMS), ChatGPT (HTML custom blocks), Synthesia (videos), Canva (visual assets), Qumu (video storage), CaptionHub (translations)

Scope & Responsabilites

  • End-to-end project ownership

  • Learning concept & content structure proposal

  • Instructional design & scripting

  • Multimedia production (video, visuals, HTML)

  • Direct implementation in client LMS

  • Weekly coordination calls and stakeholder alignment

  • Translations (videos and modules) for 19 languages

Project delivery process

Overview of the key steps followed to design and deliver the training series.

Audit existing training

As a first step, I reviewed the existing "Sales up! Claims down!" training to understand the current structure, content, and constraints.

This allowed me to identify what could be reused, what needed to be updated, and where improvements were needed before redesigning the program.

Learning Architecture & Media Strategy

Based on the initial audit, I defined the overall learning structure and designed a new 7-module architecture.

For each module and section, I clarified the overall content and decided which media format would be most effective (text, interaction, visuals, or video) before starting production.

This step included:

  • structuring the content across 7 modules

  • defining the flow and content for every module

  • selecting the most appropriate media for each step

  • Defining a timeline for the rollout of the project

Module Development

Once the structure was defined, I developed the modules one by one in Rise Up, following the agreed architecture and media plan.

For each module, I created the content blocks, interactions, and visual elements to ensure a clear and engaging learning experience.

Development of custom HTML interactions

To create more engaging learning experiences,  I used AI to generate custom HTML interaction blocks, which I then adapted and integrated into Rise Up (LMS). These elements helped structure the content and highlight key concepts in a more interactive way (flipping cards, clickable blocs etc.)

Visual assets creation

Supporting visuals were created using tools such as Canva, Google Icons, and stock images to improve the overall clarity and consistency of the modules.

Video production

To support the case study modules (5), I produced short scenario-based videos using Synthesia.

Each case presents a realistic situation between Sika colleagues, after which learners must analyze the situation and answer questions before discovering the recommended approach.

Stakeholder alignement & Project coordination

Throughout the project, regular alignment meetings were held with the Legal team to review progress, discuss content decisions, and ensure the modules remained aligned with business expectations.

After each meeting, I documented the discussions, decisions, and next steps to keep the project on track.

This step included:

  • weekly progress meetings with the project team

  • documenting key decisions and action points

  • discussion of content and scenario validation

  • coordination of the development across the 7 modules

Review, testing
& iteration

Once the modules were developed, the training went through several review stages to refine the content and ensure clarity before final rollout.

This step included:

  • an internal review round with the project team

  • a pilot test with 10 users enrolled in the training

  • discussion and implementation of feedback

  • preparation of the final modules for rollout and translations

Translations

To prepare the training for global rollout, the modules and videos were translated into 19 languages.

This step included:

  • generating module translations using the AI translation tool in Rise Up

  • reviewing and validating the English captions for the videos

  • generating multilingual subtitles in CaptionHub

  • embedding the final video links into the LMS modules
