Fair Competition Training

Developed in close collaboration with Sika’s legal and compliance teams.

This project involved the development of an interactive e-learning training on fair competition principles for Sika employees worldwide.

The objective was to transform complex legal concepts into clear, practical learning content that employees can understand and apply in their daily work.

The training combines animated scenario videos, interactive reflections, and explanatory learning blocks.

The Challenge

Competition law is a complex and sensitive topic. The challenge was to translate legal guidelines into clear and engaging learning content while maintaining accuracy and compliance with internal legal requirements.

The Solution

The training follows Paul, a fictional employee facing real business situations. Learners follow Paul’s decisions and reflect on:

• how he should react
• what the correct approach is
• the legal principles behind it

This scenario-based approach makes compliance concepts more practical and engaging.

  • Proposal of the production approach and animation tools

  • Instructional design

  • Multimedia production (animated videos, visuals, HTML)

  • Direct implementation in client LMS

  • Weekly coordination calls and stakeholder alignment

  • Translations (videos and modules) for 19 languages

Project delivery process

Overview of the key steps followed to design and deliver the training series.

Script Review & Production Proposal

The legal team provided a detailed training script outlining the scenarios and key compliance messages.

As the team required animated videos, I reviewed the script, prepared the project proposal and development timeline, and explored suitable animation solutions for the training.

Two options were presented: Canva & Vyond.

After evaluation, Vyond was selected, and the Vyond environment was set up with the client before production began.

Design Prototype & Validation

Development started with the first module (“Monday”), used as a prototype to define the visual and interaction approach of the whole training.

The first animated video and learning blocks were produced and reviewed with the Compliance team.

The design was refined through several iterations until the approach was validated for the rest of the module.

Module Development

Once the design prototype was validated, the remaining modules were developed in Rise Up (LMS) following the agreed structure.

Each module was built around a scenario-based learning approach, combining animated videos, reflection questions, and explanatory learning blocks to help employees understand how fair competition principles apply in real situations.

Scenario-based video production - Vyond

To illustrate real workplace situations, I produced a series of animated videos in Vyond following the fictional employee Paul throughout his workday.

Each video presents a realistic situation in which Paul encounters a potential competition law issue.

Learners are invited to reflect on how he should react before discovering the recommended approach.

Reflection questions

Each scenario is followed by reflection questions prompting learners to analyze the situation and consider the appropriate response.

These interactions help reinforce understanding before presenting the correct explanation and legal guidance.

Interactive Learning blocks

To clarify key legal concepts, I developed custom HTML learning blocks integrated into Rise Up.

These blocks structure the explanations and highlight key principles using interactive elements such as flip cards and clickable content sections, making the legal information easier to understand.

Stakeholder alignement & Project coordination

Throughout the project, regular alignment meetings were held with the Legal team to review progress, discuss content decisions, and ensure the modules remained aligned with business expectations.

After each meeting, I documented the discussions, decisions, and next steps to keep the project on track.

This step included:

  • weekly progress meetings with the project team

  • documenting key decisions and action points

  • discussion of content and scenario validation

  • coordination of the development across the 7 modules

Review, testing
& iteration

Once the modules were developed, the training went through several review stages to refine the content and ensure clarity before final rollout.

This step included:

  • an internal review round with the project team

  • a pilot test with 10 users enrolled in the training

  • discussion and implementation of feedback

  • preparation of the final modules for rollout and translations

Translations

To prepare the training for global rollout, the modules and videos were translated into 19 languages.

This step included:

  • generating module translations using the AI translation tool in Rise Up

  • reviewing and validating the English captions for the videos

  • generating multilingual subtitles in CaptionHub

  • embedding the final video links into the LMS modules
